Title: Whoops, lies about the Civil War needed

Five myths about why the South seceded

"On Dec. 24, 1860, delegates at South Carolina's secession convention adopted a "Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession of South Carolina from the Federal Union." It noted "an increasing hostility on the part of the non-slaveholding States to the institution of slavery" and protested that Northern states had failed to "fulfill their constitutional obligations" by interfering with the return of fugitive slaves to bondage. Slavery, not states' rights, birthed the Civil War."

The Washington Post should read Lysander Spooner's "No Treason".

If you would like a good read into a different view point on slavery please read http://ia700104.us.archive.org/23/items/greatbritainandt13789gut/13789-h/13789-h.htm

I believe that England due to expansionism of the south, protectionism of the north and the emigration of their own serfdom slave force, to America, used their press to demonize the slave trade, to pit north against the south, to gain back control of their dominance in world trade.

"What a terrible thing it is to try to let off a little bit of truth into this miserable humbug of a world!" written by Nathaniel Hawthorne about the censorship of his essay called "Chiefly about War Matters"http://www.theatlantic.com/past/docs/issues/1862jul/hawthorne.htm in The Atlantic Monthly.  Hawthorne was freshly back from his 7 years consulship in England.

BR8K Free, I have been advocating for years that the "Slavery" issue was the impetus or sales tool for the so-called Civil War. Look at the 48ers as just some of the prima facie evidence to the socialist/communist takeover of America, i.e., the Hegelian Dialectic. The main issue is really States' Rights, the "sales job" aside.

Thanks to your input, I came up with this image to relate the issues...
