Is America a Ship of Fools?

"Listen baby - you will pay tomorrow"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ket-ndpxhPg

Ship Of Fools ~ World Party

We're setting sail
To the place on the map from which no one has ever returned
Torn by the promise of the joker and the fool
By the light of the crosses that bur-urn
Torn by the promise of the women and the lace
And the gold and the cotton and pearls
It's the place where they keep all the darkness you meet
You sail away from the light of the world

Listen baby - you will pay tomorrow
You're gonna pay tomorrow-ow-ow
You will pay tomorrow-ow-ow-ow-wow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow

Save me, save me from tomor-orrow
I don't want to sail with this ship of foo-ools, no no
Oh-oh-oh, save me, save me from tomor-orrow
I don't want to sail with this ship of foo-ools, no no
I want to run and hide
Right now - ri-ight now-ow yeah-eah-eah

Avarice and greed are gonna drive you over the endless sea
They will leave you-ou drifting in the shallows
Drowning in the oceans of history-y-y-y
Travellin' the world, you're in search of no good
But I'm sure you're philosophic like I knew you would
Using all the good people for your gallant slaves
As your little boat struggles through the the warning waves

But you will pay, you will pay tomorrow
You're gonna pay tomorrow-ow-ow
You gonna pay tomorrow-ow-ow-ow-wow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow

Save me-ee, save me from tomor-orrow
I don't want to sail with this ship of foo-ools, no no no no
Oh-oh-oh, save me-ee, save me from tomor-orrow
I don't want to sail with this ship of foo-ools, no no no no

Where's it comin' fro-om or where's it goin' to?
It's just a - it's just a ship of foo-oo-oo-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ools

Yeah, oh Lord

Are we fools for the lack of knowledge?
Or are we fools for being lazy?

I would have to say for being lazy. There are libraries and internet sites galore. Lack of knowledge is no excuse!

Indoctrination into a system is a pretty powerful tool for control.  We are indoctrinated by parents, schools, churches, the media, and the community of members in the system, even with libraries and internet sites full of truth, the pieces of the puzzle have been so splintered and scattered to make it very difficult for the typical human being born into the system to see what is outside, but there is an awakening happening, maybe not as fast as some of us would like, but it is happening.

I think the people are simply kept ignorant and fairly happy, and these two combined make the chains of bondage very hard to recognize.

I have not been sailing on this Ship of Fools for about 10 years.  [smiley=cool.gif]

I was trying to be nice, but yes a "ship of fools" is a very good description.  One of the 'crew members' of that 'ship' tried to tell me yesterday that voting was a birth right.  Wow.  I hope there are some on that ship can tell the difference between a franchise and right or at least smart enough to find a life boat.

After getting that first cup of joe, sitting down to read the posts in the forum, and seeing the poll at the bottom of the home page, the first thing I thought of was World Party's "Ship of Fools" and lo and behold, there it is in the thread.

Well, my immediate answer is a resounding "YES!" to the poll.

I was once a foolish crew member (like that phraseology, Federal Farmer) in my thinking and still am in my status. I cannot wait to set everything to rights and get out.

The lack of teaching skills to the young do not help the matter either. Looking for answers on the internet this info is one thing finding that answer in the books and micro film would be a whole new can of worms for me at this point only because I have never done that. Somebody has to show the path we are all born with a blank hard drive.

I had to be the one that voted against the flow, I guess.

The people didn't start the problem... they just let it happen... But I don't believe they are fools either, but that they've been fooled.

If the word "Most" was in the first choice, I would have picked it instead, but since I never use generalizations, I chose the second.

Birth right? I suppose in one sense that is true.

THANKS MOM AND DAD... For not doing anything about this crap we have been dealt!

I second that.  Why couldn't they have stumbled onto all this truth and brought us into this world as part of the un-numbered.  Oh well , no sense in crying over spilled milk.  It is up to us to repopulate the republics.

I believe in divine providence, that all things happen in God's time as he intends.

I wonder sometimes how long it took the Hebrew children to realize that they were slaves. They didn't start out as slaves either, but over time became enslaved to the Egyptians.

For some reason, over time God allowed that to happen, probably because of sin. Maybe that's what has happened in America.

I guess I see LB as more of a Moses.

No pressure intended LB. We all love you for your conviction and sacrifice.

God bless you for being a worthy vessel.

I guess I don't see American's as a ship of fools either, but only God knows and he will have to sort it out. That is what I am afraid of!

To say that Americans are fools would be to call myself a fool...wait a sec here...now as I rethink about it, as far as the definition of fool is concerned-- deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding--
Yeah I was most undoubtedly a fool who has been fooled.

Change vote please.  [smiley=umm.gif]

And I still am a fool cause I haven't left the ship yet!
I'm just one who understands the captain is a pirate and so is his crew!
Ah 1...ah 2.... ah......

Here are some Biblical verses with the word fool in them:

http://cgi.godsview.com/cgi-bin/rcdenig/psiseek.pl?topic=fool

I would stand by my vote that America has been a ship of fools and I among them. I was not prudent and was deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding of what has transpired. Thank goodness we are all able to become wise and always seek wisdom and understanding.

According to the latest poll Obama has a 50% approval rating. I would have to say that at least half of the people are fools.

I would have to wonder about the other half as most are voting for the same system only a different pirate in charge of the ship. I would suggest that the percentage of fools would increase from 50% to a much larger number.

We were all fools at one point and time... But it is time to man up.

The Roman poet Juvenal wrote in the first century: Give the people bread and circuses and they will never revolt. What was true then is still true today... except now it's food stamps and TV!

Of course the public school system doesn't help much either.

The situation in Europe isn't better. The governments over there learn fast - from our example.
I was lucky enough being in their school system when they still taught something instead of just preparing kids to pass tests.

Whether one causes or allows something to happen doesn't lessen the fact of his/her guilt. Laziness and irresponsibility are key signs of foolishness according to God's word. So yes, we are a ship of fools.

Americans aren't the only ones who have been fooled by the powers that be, but we carry the greater blame since so much of this has happened on our watch, in our own backyard.  Too much faith in public institutions like:  public television & media, public schools, has built in us a belief that the greater the population of voting idiots, the greater the intelligence and power.  30 years ago, I realized America was a psycho ward and I had been just another one of the patients.  The machine is working perfectly for the banks.

The only solution is to withdraw;  if enough people can be awakened, the machine will die for lack of interest.  Ignore the police; ignore the regulations, kill your TV, etc., but it must be done locally, nationally and continually.

The standing law of God is the only real anchor.

There was not a good choice to be made in this poll.  We either had a choice of No or a choice to blame it on Americans.

King James Bible
(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see,
and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
 Romans 11:8

There are many references within the Bible that confirm this passage.
Deuteronomy 29:4; but to this day the Lord has not given you a mind to understand, or eyes to see, or ears to hear

We are dealing with many false profits and indoctrination tactics,
not to mention that we are built deaf and blind.  Where then is the truth written?

I profess that those that don't understand what the truth is, it was always intended to be that way.

There is a maxim, that I am sure that can be found in the Bible... Let those who wish to be deceived, be deceived.

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4. It goes on to say, "But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship,...discharge all the duties of your ministry (service)." 2 Tim. 4:5

I should also add that there are numerous times when God said (in various contexts) in His Word "Do not be deceived...". This tells me that we have the choice (or ability) to be deceived if we are slothful, idle, foolish, etc. Jer. 37:9, 1 Cor. 3:18, Eph. 5:6, 2 Thes. 2:3, Gal. 6:7, Jam. 1:16, Matt. 24:4, Mk. 13:5.
